Creating Tournaments

Guide for administrators to set up and run tournaments.

Tournament Setup​

Create New Tournament​

  1. Go to Tournaments > Create
  2. Enter basic details:
    • Tournament name
    • Date(s)
    • Course(s)
    • Entry fee

Handicap Settings​

Configure handicap application:

  • Playing handicap percentage (e.g., 95%)

  • By handicap range
  • By age group
  • By gender
  • Custom criteria

Entry Configuration​

Entry Period​

Set registration timeline:

  • Opens: When entries start
  • Closes: Deadline for entries
  • Late entries: Allow after deadline?

Eligibility​

Define who can enter:

  • Membership type required
  • Minimum/maximum handicap
  • Age restrictions
  • Club affiliation

Entry Fees​

Configure pricing:

  • Entry fee amount
  • Early bird discount
  • Member discount
  • Includes (cart, food, etc.)

Draw Setup​

Draw Options​

Configure tee times:

  • Tee 1 / Tee 10 start
  • Shotgun start
  • Group size (2-4)
  • Time interval

Draw Preferences​

Allow players to request:

  • Playing partners
  • Preferred time
  • Tee preference

Automatic Draw​

Generate draw automatically:

  • Randomized
  • By handicap (sandbagging prevention)
  • By entry order
  • Mixed (balanced groups)

Running the Tournament​

Pre-Tournament​

Checklist before play:

  • Entries closed and reviewed
  • Draw published
  • Tee sheet updated
  • Scorecards prepared
  • Handicaps verified

Day of Play​

Manage on the day:

  • Check players in
  • Handle late arrivals
  • Monitor scoring
  • Address issues

Post-Tournament​

After play completes:

  • Verify all scores
  • Check countbacks
  • Finalize results
  • Publish leaderboard
  • Process prizes

Multi-Day Events​

Day Configuration​

For multi-round tournaments:

  • Separate draws per day
  • Cumulative scoring
  • Cut lines (if applicable)

Cut Management​

Configure cuts:

  • After round 1, 2, etc.
  • Number to advance
  • Ties for last spot

Templates​

Saving Templates​

Save configuration for reuse:

  1. Set up tournament
  2. Click Save as Template
  3. Name the template
  4. Use for similar events

Club Templates​

Common templates:

  • Monthly Medal
  • Club Championship
  • Member-Guest
  • Corporate Day
